Our Infrastructure business has
Assets under Advice
of $453 Million
India’s Infrastructure build-out is expected to require about $1 Trillion in financing with about half of it expected to be provided by private sources of capital. There is a major build-out in the power, roads, renewable energy, ports, airports, etc sectors. India has largely followed a PPP approach to plugging its Infra deficit.
ICICI Venture seeks to leverage the rich history and legacy of ICICI Bank in providing financing solutions and policy inputs for the great Indian Infra build-out over the past five decades.
ICICI Venture is exploring initiatives across various sub-sectors of Indian infrastructure.
In 2016, ICICI Venture diversified into Infrastructure investing through Resurgent Power Ventures (RPV) which is a power platform with capital commitments of $453 million (amended). RPV has been set up with the objective of facilitating investments in power projects in India, which are either in advanced stages of construction & near operational readiness or operating. RPV is co-sponsored by Tata Power and ICICI Bank and also has commitments from other large global investors. ICICI Venture is an Advisor to RPV along with TPC.
In 2019-20, Resurgent concluded its maiden investment through the acquisition of a controlling stake in Prayagraj Power Limited, a 1980 MW operating power generation asset. This acquisition involved a one-time settlement (OTS) of $850 million to lenders. Resurgent is in the process of being invested. Resurgent continues to explore other acquisition opportunities.
